FLOWERS

AUTUMN is in the AIR and on the BREEZE

RUSTY BRICK DYEING

I love the beautiful rusts and yellows found in RUDBECKIA @ this time of year . . . .
each flower tells its own colour theory . . . .
I could never hook it so perfectly beautiful . . .
so . . .I just press it instead and watch the colours fade over winter  . . .
much the same as our rugs fade over time . . . .
be sure to use good acid dyes  . . .such as
Majic Carpet or Pro Chem . . .
not the Koolaid or RIT  . . .
if you want longer fade results that is. . .
no sense in not putting the best into our precious rugs !

MORE LUPINS-Totally HOOKED!

Yes , I'm HOOKED on LUPINS

These  lupins were made  with #3 cut strips of spot dyed (by myself)- wool
 and
hooked by my friend ,Bets of Sandy Cove Nova Scotia!
This was a huge rug with a view of the cove . .I
have only shown a small section here . . .great job Bets!

I myself prefer the  lupins hooked with strips of fabric rather than the roving as shown a few days ago in a post here. . .
because . . . for me . . .
rugs are for the FLOOR and these Lupins would last  better hooked with wool fabric . . .
I love the gentle look also . . .
Notice the direction of hooking lines and how well they work  together here in the summer background . . .

HOOKED LUPINS

LUPIN TIME hooked

NOT easy to hook with all those tiny flowers but here they are sort of ROVING  done and it seems to work well . . . great job!I would like to see the finished  mat!

I imagine there are many ways to hook these special flowers
One of the things  I really love about lupins are the shape of their leaves . . .drawn here in a very simple  stylized manner and hooked in a 3 value sort of way.

I certainly would love to know you and give you credit !

QUEEN ANNES LACE

POT HOLDERS FOR GARDENERS BY THE SEA

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE FLOWERS-Queen Annes Lace and the other RAMBLER ROSES that both grow here easily by the sea . . .my garden is a country wild one so they are everywhere  . .. blown in by the wind or thrown by hand . . . I hav enoticed that manny rug hookers are or where quilters at one time . . . .I am also of that variety .   . .and was lucky enough to have been given by a couple of friend these 2 fabrics with favourite mentioned flowers  . .. so of course I made hotplate hot-pads for the table  . . .I do love my dinner on a HOT PLATE . .  and what could be more perfect? than these?
